Richard Pollett will be long remembered as a violinist of extraordinary musical depth and as someone who touched the lives of many through his exceptional personal qualities.
Richard was visiting his home town Brisbane to appear as soloist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, but he was killed on 27th September 2011 while riding his bicycle not far from his parent's house.
The Richard Pollett Memorial Award has been established by Richard's family and close friends in association with the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) to honour Richard's memory. Awards are made annually to provide support and encouragement to young violinists who display outstanding personal and musical qualities. Further details can be found here.
